Steven E. Angstreich actively engages in the litigation of sophisticated and complex personal and business disputes including class actions locally and nationally. He has appeared and tried cases in the state or federal courts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, Texas, and California. He has been selected as lead and co-lead counsel in national class actions and successfully handled class actions in the fields of securities, antitrust, consumer fraud, RICO, toxic exposure, breach of fiduciary duty, waste and mismanagement, and land fraud. In addition, he handles matters involving the wrongful use of civil proceedings, malicious prosecution and legal malpractice primarily for plaintiffs in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Mr. Angstreich has been named a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” in commercial litigation every year since 2005, an honor awarded only to the top 5% of lawyers in Pennsylvania, as published in Philadelphia Magazine. He has also been named a “New Jersey Super Lawyer” in the field of legal malpractice every year since 2007. In 2011, he was named a Top Lawyer by SJ Magazine in the area of Brownfields. In 2012, he was named a “Pennsylvania Best Lawyer” in the field of legal malpractice and a Top Lawyer by SJ Magazine in the area of closely held business.
He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Retained by both plaintiffs and defendants, Mr. Angstreich has been qualified and testified as an expert witness in the areas of legal malpractice, legal ethics and wrongful use of civil proceedings before Courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has, over the past forty years, lectured in the areas of legal malpractice, toxic tort, civil practice and procedure and environmental law for the American Bar Association, National Institute Section on Tort and Insurance Practice; Pennsylvania Bar Institute; Philadelphia Bar Institute and the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Mr. Angstreich is admitted to practice in State and Federal Courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and has been admitted to appear before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeal and the Second, Third, Fourth, Seven, Eighth, and the Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is a member of the Philadelphia County, Camden County, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and American Bar Associations.
Born 1945 in the Bronx, NY, he attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a B.S. in Economics in 1967. He received his J.D., with honors, from Temple University School of Law in 1970 where he was a member of the Law Review and awarded the Barenkopf Scholarship.
