Marc J. Zucker, Partner

Experience

Mr. Zucker concentrates his practice in the area of complex commercial litigation.

He has litigated disputes involving high-level contract, corporate, real estate, banking, insurance, securities, distributorship, trade secret, bankruptcy, UCC and employment issues, as well as business torts, class actions, derivative litigation and "business divorces," disputes among principals of closely-held entities.

He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Professional Activities

Mr. Zucker is immediate past chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Business Litigation Committee, having served as chair in 2007-8 and as vice chair in 2005-6, and is an active member of the bar association's Professional Guidance Committee and Federal Courts Committee. He is an elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and co-chairs the ADR subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Commercial & Business Litigation Committee. He has served as an adjunct professor of law at Villanova University School of Law since 2004, and is former president of the law school's American Inn of Court, having previously served as its Counselor and Program Chair. He chaired the Program Awards Committee of the American Inns of Court Foundation in Washington, DC in 2007 and 2008. Mr. Zucker was appointed by the chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association to the Investigative Division of the association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention, on which he has served since 1998. He is a member of the volunteer panel of judges pro tempore assisting the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County. He also is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

In addition, he has been named a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" each year since 2006, an honor awarded only to the top 5% of lawyers in Pennsylvania, as published in Philadelphia Magazine.

Mr. Zucker serves as a neutral on the Commercial and Customer Account Panels of the American Arbitration Association.

Bar Admissions

Mr. Zucker is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition to his admissions to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and Supreme Court of New Jersey, he is admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Eleventh Circuits, the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Education

Mr. Zucker earned his B.A. degree with honors from Haverford College in 1981 and his J.D. degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1984.

Community Activities

Among his many community activities, Mr. Zucker was appointed in 2007 to a three-year term as chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia (JCRC), having previously served as a JCRC vice president and board member. Since 2005 he has served as an elected trustee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and in 2007 was named to its board of directors.
