On October 13, 2016, Judge Sonya M. McKnight dismissed an eight-count criminal case brought by Kathleen Kane’s Office of Attorney General against Defendant Melonease Shaw, a well-known lobbyist and nonprofit operator in Philadelphia.  The Commonwealth argued that Ms. Shaw had misused government grant funds during her time as CEO of Transitional Work Corporation, a now-defunct nonprofit agency tasked with assisting welfare recipients to transition into the workforce and off of public assistance.  Ms. Shaw was represented by Walter Weir Jr. and Kandis L. Kovalsky.
